I finally hiked the Tugela Gorge (bottom hike of Tugela) and it didn't disappoint. It was incredible. 19km in total. 6.5hrs. Lots of swimming. Tons of pics and my best hike yet. My heart is full and happy πŸ’šπŸŒ³ We stayed at Amphitheater Backpackers, well priced and you get to meet a bunch of different people from around the world 🌍 the hike itself was quite flat, we hiked through bush, open land, caves, up ladders, over rocks and got to swim in beautiful crystal clean pools. The only down side was that the Tugela waterfall was dry. We were shocked to see the fire damage (that was not mentioned anywhere), but also amazed at how fast the valley had recovered in only 3 months. Sadly the trees and protea’s will take many years to regrow. Can we talk about how my first real hike was Table Mountain? Also did I mention that I ate ice-cream for breakfast that day?! What a mistake... I dragged my feet up the whole mountain and probably was the reason our group split into two. Yeah, you guessed itβ€”I was the caboose. Proud to say I eventually became a seasoned hiker. This picture was taken at Tsitsikamma National Park, one of the natural wonders along the Garden Route. There are several trekking routes within the Park. We did a 3 hour hike to a waterfall and got to see plenty of dolphins playing around and also some whales. Another popular one, and suitable for most people, is the hike to the suspended bridge.
