It absorbs up to twice as much sound as the industry average. Due to its hygroscopic properties, it also acts as an air purifier, by filtration via a constant cycle of absorption and release of humidity. 
Nordgrön is very easy ~ it doesn't require any sunlight, watering or pruning. The moss is backed with an MDf panel pressed from pine woodchips and available in over 10 colors.

Paul Stammets has envisioned this type of process to be used to extract minerals and elements which can then be refined back to virgin molecules... imagine a mining process where you grow mushrooms in mineral rich soil, to which you collect and process the mushrooms!

Continuing Bodies is a time based sculpture made using mycelium, a recently pioneered bio-fabrication technology that is grown. The mycelium bricks form a pair of abstracted lungs, situated in the science research area of Wytham Woods.  Continuing Bodies begins its process of transformation in this site and hopes to create a discourse on the perspectives concerning relationships between humans and natures.

Making leaps and bounds on some of the projects that I have started. The pictures below are an example of mycelium's brilliant, but random, power to adapt. Both plates below were inoculated on the same substrate (MEA) and were dyed bright red with colouring.

One promising feature of mycelium is it's ability to learn how to break down specific molecules, especially hydrocarbons, and are often attracted to them for their high energy potential. Simulating these molecules with the red dye, you can see how the plate on the left is ahead of the right in digesting the red dye, having a higher nutritional content to the agar. The application of this method will help humans clean up oil spills, heavy metal soil contamination, pesticide residuess; the list goes on and on.

The Fashion Professorship explores how to create a renewed sense of engagement with fashion’s materials and materialities, moving towards fashion as a new materialist aesthetics. It will focus on fashion as a second skin – its relation to physical bodies and the senses – and highlight the material agency of fashion objects and underline the importance of ‘living materials’ for a more resilient future. Have a peek at this Teak Leaf Paper, that is a part of the Material Connexion Library here at KEA. 
Teak leaf is a strong, tough material that is biodegradable and compostable. It contains 70% dried fallen leaf, 20% wood pulp and 10% wax. 
Like a textile, teak  leaf can be seen and cut as regular fabric. It offers water resistance, tension resistance and contains a natural scent.

Process:
Collecting fallen leaves
Drying them under sunlight 
Treating them for mold resistance
Steaming or soaking them 
Pressing them with pulp 
Other applications include furniture, interior design, accessories and packaging.

#materialmondays  Have a peek at this Teak Leaf Paper, that is a part of the Material Connexion Library here at KEA. Teak leaf is a strong, tough material that is biodegradable and compostable. It contains 70% dried fallen leaf, 20% wood pulp and 10% wax. Like a textile, teak leaf can be seen and cut as regular fabric. It offers water resistance, tension resistance and contains a natural scent. Every day is a total mystery to me! Each time I start to think that I'm mastering fungi and getting somewhere, mother nature throws a curveball and screws that all up! Isolated this wild Agaricus bisporus (common mushroom) and the mycelia growth is nuts! It does look beautiful though. Anyone have a clue? 😲

About a year ago I thought the strangest material I had worked with was edible jelly, that doesn't even compare to working with mycelium! The texture and makeup of the material varies so much, some of it feels like chewing gum, some pillow stuffing, some downright indescribable... Tomorrow's my last day and I would like to say thank you to everyone at @sebastiancoxltd for letting me in to the mushroom revolution, even if you don't have Yorkshire Tea, and of course cheers to @studiodan for the beers and the unscheduled, casual tutorial about my projects
