Calories can come in liquid forms, yet many people don't recognise this, dont track this, now wonder why they aren't making any weight loss progress.
.
.
Liquid calorie examples include most non-diet fizzy drinks, milk and milk alternatives, some juices, squash, alcohol, most coffees, frappucinos, smoothies, protein shakes and most pre workouts come with a trackable amount of calories...so please be truthful and track them all in your diary, if you are serious about losing weight.
.
.
Personally, it would be extreme circumstances for me to recommend liquid calories for someone in a weight loss phase, due to liquid calories failing to provide any substantial fullness/satiety! They are simply a waste of calories, which if you spend 300+ calories on liquids, that could well be a decent sized meal/snack when choosing the right foods.
.
.
Here are some potential swaps:
.
.
If you are having fizzy pop, opt either for an artificially sweetened beverage or no added sugar juices/squash/cordial depending on where you're from.
.
.
If you tend to have latte's, cappuccinos or mochas, ask for skinny options or have an americano/normal coffee with an artificial syrup instead for a sweeter flavour.
.
.
If you have cows milk in your cereal, try unsweetened almond milk or a lower calorie alternative.
.
.
If having smoothies, you are better off having the whole fruit and taking your time to eat the food rather than drink them, however if you really want to, try using berries and melons as a main bulk of the smoothie as they are the lowest calorie fruits.
.
.
If you have alcohol, the better options are bottled beers or light beers, spirits diluted in diet coke/lemonade or bottled ciders as they take longer to drink.
.
.
I am not telling you what to eat, as these substitutes may not work for you. However, these are ways of trying to reduce your calories, while maintaining or increasing food volume overall, which if not seeing results currently, this could be a massive help!
