As I get older, I really appreciate how ‘springy’ I was as a teenager. Being a child of the 80s meant I was outside doing kid stuff, lots of running and jumping on, over and off of stuff, obsessed with basketball and a good 5 years of focused sprint and long jump training meant I could jump and was very elastic... oh those were the days. 😂 Then I decided to almost negate all of that and became deskbound and sedentary for 10 years throughout my 20s. My movement practice journey... well just my journey has been about discovery and rediscovery - can I find that spring in my step and bounding exuberance of my youth. Who knows if I’ll be able to dunk like I used to, or leave people in my dust like I did in my sprinting days. 😁😉 It’s not important. I do know that the ongoing process and growth I’ve had to go through to reconnect with my body from a decade of 7 hours a day of sitting and staring at a screen has given me such optimism where I can honestly say I feel more full of energy and youth than I ever did in my 20s... with perhaps the exception that I’m known to enjoy the odd moment of stubbornness and belligerence as I get older.😂 So the core impulse and inspiration for this course comes from my excitement and continued focus to find my legs again and help them age gracefully as I enjoy them and what they can do, for a long time. I also have huge inspiration and gratitude to @fightingmonkey_rootlessroot @rafekelley @tomweksler @josephbartz to name just a few key influences for me who have helped and continue to help me find my legs again and serve as an integral inspiration to my practice and development which I hope to share. If I can rediscover my legs after 10 years of darkness in an office chair, I hope me sharing can be useful for someone else.
