I know it’s cold out there but ice cream is year round in our house. So usually I practice and preach, if you want a cookie. Eat a cookie. However, there are some people, including myself, that struggle with only eating 1 cookie and sticking to moderation. So...I simply LOVE making a treat that’s delicious but with a healthier spin on it. This diary free ice cream dream was amazing! I don’t follow recipes but I’ll do my best to guess because I want you to give it a try and let me know what you think.

3 bananas
1 scoop vegan chocolate protein powder
1/4 cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder
1/2 cup natural peanut butter 
1/2 cup raw cashews (soaked overnight)
1 tea vanilla 
1 tablespoon maple syrup
2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk (you really have to gauge this one a little at a time. You want it to be thick.) Blend
Put in ice cream maker (if you don’t have one just freeze after blended but it won’t be as creamy)
And freeze in air tight container until firm #icecream #nicecream #addchocolatechips

Every girl has a lumberjack shirt. Amirite? I’m a firm believer in dressing well to feel well. I’m also a believer in beating to your own drum and wearing whatever you like. Our confidence comes from how we feel on the inside. So if you’re looking to boost your self-esteem the answer isn’t in makeup, new clothes or a trendy haircut, (Nothing wrong with those things though) the answer is building healthy relationships, realizing your uniqueness is the cool part about you, and passing off those who think less of you based on your outfit. Within the last 24 hours both of my kids have been made fun of, because of what they were wearing. Ridiculous! My 3 year old because he was wearing crazy colors and mismatched clothes. My 10 year old because he was dressed up too much for the occasion. We can comfort them, we can say, “people say mean things, sometimes” but we should also just show them. Ditched the straight bar for #legday and tried the safety cambered squat bar. I love adding variations to traditional movements. This bar has plenty of benefits but make sure you’ve mastered the standard squat first. The camber strengthens your back by slightly pushing you forward and demanding stability, representing the deadlift movement. The highlight for me, is it saves the shoulders. Even if you don’t struggle with shoulder injuries, it will preserve the upper body for shoulder day. I started out with real light weight and really focused on mind & muscle connection. #squat #growth

Not gonna lie, chased that pump today and I had zero shame doing it. My training has been slack recently, for xyz reasons. When we fall into a slump, there are times that we need to focus and dig deeper to reach the next level. Then, there are other times, like today, there is importance in doing what you love instead of what you’re “supposed to.” Learning how to manage stress and rest is just as valuable as your workouts, for your health!

They almost always have directions on the side to explain how to use it. Finally working up to some weight. I was talking to a woman in the gym between sets and she was like, “oh I can’t do that much but I did deadlifts for the first time last week.” I responded with how incredible that was. Who cares how much I lift or don’t lift. She has avoided them because she wasn’t familiar with them. Well, the only way to get familiar and comfortable in something new, is to do it. I just met her but I was proud of her. Also, let me take this moment to say like I have for years, ladies, let’s build each other up instead of comparing ourselves to each other. Celebrate with one another!

So instead of comparing or judging or reaching for someone’s look, weight, or goals, aim for your own. When life has a storm, I’m usually the type of person that sees the glimmer of light in the distance. I try to focus my attention on who and what matters most to me. The reality is, some dark clouds seem to linger longer than we’d like. It’s ok to not always feel strong and put together. It’s ok to feel like you don’t have all the answers. It’s ok if you don’t feel like singing in the rain. Sometimes all you can do is weather the storm. Cling tight to God’s promises and be anchored in His truth. Summer was rough. My body and mental state took a big hit not being able to go to the gym. It’s been slow progress getting these gains back but I’ve learned that there’s nothing that can truly keep me down for long. There have been days that seem so dark it feels like months. There have been moments I had no answers. There have been circumstances I wasn’t sure I’d make it out of. I’ve learned with a lot of faith, the reassurance of my family, and constantly returning to the things that bring joy and balance, will make you stronger than you ever imagined. #peace #happy #family
